When you want to make any change in your life your unconscious mind must agree otherwise you will have a battle going on inside you. It doesn’t matter whether it is quitting smoking, losing weight, overcoming limiting beliefs or any other change. Your conscious and unconscious minds need to working together as a team.
Our unconscious mind thinks like a 3-5 year old child and it is just as relentless when it wants its own way.
Our unconscious minds don’t understand the subtleties of modern threats and stresses. It understands threats in the way our cave people ancestors did.
The threats were starvation, cold and being eaten. For the fist two, and especially for women, the problem was solved by storing more fat as insulation and food reserves. A smaller number of people lose weight rapidly when stressed so that they can run away from being eaten.
Women especially needed to store fat so that in times of starvation, they were able to feed their young and preserve the species.
Modern stress and the toxic mix of chemicals in our modern diet still causes most of us to insulate ourselves from the dangerous world.
Diets are seen as starvation and the body’s response is to store even more fat reserves in case the diet happens again.
So weight loss, like every other big change you consciously want to make, begins in your mind. You need to be relaxed so that your unconscious mind feels safe.
